Data sources

Data sources: USDA FDC and UK CoFID

Where the per-100 g nutrition facts in Thrive, the plant-food nutrition database, come from.

Short answer

Thrive is a plant-food nutrition database. Its per-100 g nutrition facts come from two public food-composition datasets: USDA FoodData Central (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and UK CoFID (McCance and Widdowson's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset). Vitamins and minerals show % NRV (UK) where a UK reference exists; energy and macros show % RI for an average adult (8 400 kJ / 2 000 kcal).

How a card picks its data

There is no automatic rule in the code that prefers one dataset over the other; each card was matched to a published row from either dataset. What the card shows:

On USDA cards vitamin A is in µg RAE; on CoFID cards it is in µg RE, because that is what each dataset publishes.
